Green Skill Development Programme on ‘Bird Identification & Basic Ornithology’ concludes
SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 24: The Wular Conservation & Management Authority today held a valedictory function of Green Skill Development Programme of Ministry of Environment & Forests in “Bird Identification & Basic Ornithology.”
On the occasion, the authority inaugurated Green Skill Development Programme in “Waste Management” in collaboration with ENVIS cell of Department of Ecology & Environment, Jammu & Kashmir.
Chief Executive Director, CCF Kashmir, S.F.A. Gillani, who was Chief Guest on the occasion, emphasised the importance of conducting such programmes for developing the skill sets of local youth for profitable self employment in green jobs like eco-guides.
He also focussed on developing collaboration with eminent organisations of the country with the department. He commended the team for meticulously holding first of its kind programme and bringing in the best resource persons from across the country.
Project Coordinator, WUCMA & Course Coordinator, Mudasir Mehmood informed that the training was imparted to 18 participants and during the course eminent resource persons from the country and the state interacted with the students. Also the students went for practical birding exercises to various important Bird Areas like Wular Lake, Pampore Wetlands, Dachigam and Hokersar.
He said that that another certificate course in Waste Management is being held from 24thFeb to 30th March in which 20 trainees are participating.
On the occasion, the trainees were given completion certificates.
The function was attended by Senior Officers from Wular Conservation & Management Authority, Forest Department, Department of Wildlife Protection, Department of Ecology, Environment & Remote Sensing and other allied wings.
