Elderly man killed, another injured in Srinagar grenade blast
A civilian was killed and another injured in a grenade blast in Maharaj Gunj area of downtown Srinagar on Friday evening, police said.
Police sources said that suspected militants hurled a grenade at the main gate of M R Gunj police station at 7.45 pm. However, the device missed the target and exploded on the road, causing injuries to two pedestrians.
The injured – identified as Ghulam Nabi Ahanger (62), a resident of Ashan Zainakdal and Rafiq Ahmad Shala (45), a resident of Kani Manzar Nawakadal – were shifted to SMHS hospital where the former succumbed.
