COVID-19: Srinagar’s SMHS hospital closes OPD section
Srinagar: Authorities on Thursday decided to close OPD section at SMHS hospital here amid growing threat of coronavirus spread in Srinagar where a sexagenarian woman yesterday tested positive, making it the first case of covid-19 in Kashmir Valley.
Official sources told that the decision to close Out Patient department (OPD) section at SMHS hospital has been taken to stem the spread of coronavirus.
Principal GMC Srinagar Dr Samia Rashid when contacted said that she was in a meeting and “would talk about it later.”
Medical Superintendent SMHS Hospital Dr Nazir Choudhary did not give a clear reply and told GNS that “the one who visited the hospital was seen.” He dropped the call even as a number of doctors at the hospital confirmed that the OPD facility was closed in “right earnest to prevent spread of the coronavirus and that people should cooperate.” (GNS)
