Shakil Romshoo is new Research Dean at KU
The University of Kashmir (KU) has appointed Professor Shakil Ahmad Romshoo as the new Dean (Research).
University officials said Professor Romshoo has a multi-disciplinary academic and research background, having obtained his PhD in water resources engineering from the University of Tokyo and MS in space science from the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok.
He has more than 32-year experience in research and academics, having worked as a scientist at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), Tokyo. He has headed the Department of Earth Sciences, KU, since 2004, they said.
Professor Romshoo has guided 20 MPhil/PhD students till date and has more than 200 publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals and book chapters with the total citation score of about 1950, h-index of 24 and a cumulative impact factor score of 230.
“He is also engaged in collaborative and sponsored research on hydrology, glaciology and climate change in the Himalayan region,” the officials added.
