CASH INTERVENTION
Despite all the efforts by the government to revive tourism in Kashmir amid pandemic, thousands of families connected with this trade are waiting for cash intervention by the government to save them for virtual starvation.
While the media outlets in New Delhi are talking only about the lockdown period of coronavirus, but Kashmir tourism has been a closed chapter since the central government decided to abrogate article 370, on August 5, last year.
Government instead of helping the people connected with the tourist trade with cash, they are only making policies, blueprints to revive this trade while on the ground there are no such signs of revival. Most of the people connected with this trade question who will come to Kashmir as tourists when daily we have hundreds of corona positive cases here.
They have been appealing to the government to help them with cash for bear survival instead of doing announcements that they are going to set right this sector. Tourism cannot revive in the present circumstance though the government is doing right by opening gardens, parks, preparing ground for the industry to pick up in the coming months. Immediately people connected with tourist trade are in need of cash to survive with their families.
There is silence on the part of administration to help them while they are only tweeting about their high level meetings to revive tourism which seems impossible in present circumstances.
In such a scenario the government is duty bound to help those one lakh families in Jammu and Kashmir who are directly or indirectly connected with tourism and UT administration should have a comprehensive to help them by some financial package.
