Ladakh speaks
People of Ladakh along with their politicians have been speaking to the media amid the growing cases of pandemic and standoff between Indian and Chinese armies.
Former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Ladakh, Deldan Namgyal told the media that the reason behind the fresh clashes with China are the decisions taken by the central government on August 5, last year which included making Ladakh region a separate Union Territory.
He is not the only person who fears war in Ladakh region, even the people living in Leh claimed that fresh incursions by Chinese army have made the entire region vulnerable.
Namgyal told the media that according to the information of locals, Leh City will be only 80 kilometres away from China’s incursion in eastern Ladakh.
People of Ladakh want an end to this standoff before the winters as they remain cut off and such standoff will only add to their problems. They are silently suffering. Most of the time Srinagar-Leh highway is being used for army movement and they are already in the month of September. They do not have enough stocks dumped in Kargil and Leh for common people for the six months of winter.
In such circumstances people at the helm in the Union Territory of Ladakh have the responsibility to look for ways and means to redress the grievances of common people and assure them that the supplies would be available to them including those of essential commodities and medical supplies for the winter months.
