A senior official posted in north Kashmir said they have been directed to go tough against the defaulters and realise maximum tariff from consumers on time.
KNS received many calls from different areas of Kashmir where people complain of snapping their power connections by the power distribution company employees. A consumer told to KNS that the lockdown due to Covid19 has brought financial instablity among the people and at the momment its difficult to pay the the charges. Do we pay pay the elctricty fee or we feed our famlies. At this difficult time the goverment should stand with its people he added.
It is important to mention that KPDCL was created out of Power Development Department (PDD) when Government decided to privatize the power distribution system here.
Successive Governments were complaining that most of the revenue was spend to purchase power from outside the state and due to lack of accountability, peoople are paying very little of what they use.
Managing Director KPDCL Ajaz Asad confirmed to KNS the snapping of power connections of defaulters.
” We have already given them concessions duirng Covid19. Now they should pay their due for using the services like they do pay of other services.”
In a recently held meeting, Principal Secretry Power Development Department had advised the Company officials to work with zeal as their prospects of progress are much more than anywhere else. He asked them that the progress of company is proportional to the progress avenues of its employees.
Meanwhile Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also took review of winter preperadness recently including power availability during winters in Kashmir when there is a peak demand of electricity due to usage of heating appliances and generation of electricity at its lowest.(KNS)
