3 days ahead of LAHDC polls, GOI announces 7500 MW power projects, two smart cities, 5000 jobs
Three days ahead of LAHDC polls, Union minister of State for Home G K Reddy Monday offered a series of sops for the Ladakh that includes 7500 MW power projects and 5000 jobs for the youth.The package was announced days ahead of the crucial polls for the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) in Ladakh.
Reddy slammed Neighbouring countries Pakistan and China for interfering into the India’s internal affairs.
“No foreign country has any locus standi to intervene into the personal affairs of India and that not an inch will be given away from Ladakh or any part of J&K to anyone,” he told reporters duirng a presser.
He said that Ladakh has a huge power generation potential and Government of India has identified projects that will generate 7500 MWs of electricity for the Union Territory.
“The power projects will serve the people of Ladakh and will be very much helpful for farmers, industries,” Reddy said according to Kashmir News Service (KNS) correspondent.
Asking the people to support BJP fielded candidates in LAHDC polls, he said “We gave UT status to Ladakh. We want to take it to new heights with upgradation of development in power, tele-communication, road, air connectivity along with education and health connectivity.”
Sayinig that Ladakh has great potential to serve as a best tourist destination, he said GOI is exploring Ladakh’s tourist potential in a best way to boost its economy.
Reddy announced 5000 jobs for the youth and said whatever more opportunities are available will be identified under a proper plan in consultation with prime minister and home minister.
MoS also said that long pending demand of Zojila tunnel has been fullfilled and it will be Asia’s biggest tunnel that will reduce travel time and shall be operational round the year.
He also announced that two cities in UT will be developed as smart cities with focus on boosting and promoting then as tourist destinations.
The announcements were made just three days ahead of the LAHDC polls that are slated for October 22.
Reddy slammed Pakistan and China for intervening into the internal affairs of India and said they have no right to talk about India’s internal matters.
“ Congress, PDP and NC are toeing anti-national line by speaking the language of China and Pakistan. That is unfortunate,” he said.
He called the Dr Farooq Abdullah’s call for China’s support on restoration of Article 370 as language of rebels.(KNS)
