DDC elections
Most of the political parties in Jammu and Kashmir are busy in finalizing the list of candidates for the upcoming DDC elections and by elections of panchayat. JK Apni party led by Altaf Bukhari has recently decided to fight these elections on the symbol of cricket bat saying that his candidates are true sportsmen.
PAGD has given surprise to BJP and others by deciding to participate in these elections and not give free field to any political force in this election.
The District Development Council after these elections would be responsible for the development of each district and would be having the powers to decide about various development projects in their respective districts.
Recently Jammu and Kashmir Election Commissioner K K Sharma announced District Development Council elections to be held in 8 phases starting from November 28 to December 19.
It was presumed that PAGD will not participate in these elections as the political posturing by some of its leaders suggested so. After their meeting in Jammu and the feedback from the ground, they decided to participate in these elections and due to the less time available for their new party symbol to get approval of elections commissioner, Farooq Abdullah in Jammu said that they will participate in these elections on their own symbols and it would be a united fight against the BJP.
Each passing day the battle is becoming visible between the political parties as Farooq Abdullah has clearly said that he is for the development of Jammu and Kashmir and cautioned people not to fall prey to the BJP propaganda.
