AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
Dozens of lawmakers recently visited Kashmir valley and held a number of meetings with stakeholders and officials to see how the developmental plan of the BJP government can be accelerated.
They held meetings in the tourism, culture and transport sectors and also got feedback from bureaucracy about the pace of development undertaken in the past one year.
They were briefed by the officials that despite odds and other conditions prevailing in Kashmir they have been able to give slip to the developmental projects so that they have completed within the timeline.
The parliamentarians got a surprise when they were told by the tourism origination of Kashmir that first of all there should be connectivity as Kashmir is facing frequent disruptions of Srinagar-Jammu highway and also the air lines sector needs to be taken care off.
These organizations gave data to these parliamentarians as many of them are the members of standing committees of parliament of the department like tourism culture and transport.
In this month of January there have been frequent disruptions of Srinagar-Jammu highway due to heavy spells of snow and rains which resulted in land and mudslides on this highway.
Alternate highways need panels like the road going from Kokernag via Simthan pass to Jammu and another highway which goes from Shopian to Rajouri.
