Ailing PAGD
The People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) is only three months old and it has started showing signs of collapse. What is the real reason behind the fall of this political amalgam as this was the first experience for the mainstream political parties to come together and fight for a cause.
All earlier coalitions of mainstream political parties were based on power sharing, agreements and arrangements. Soon after the release of Mehbooba Mufti People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) had its first meeting in which it was decided that they will fight for the restoration of article 370 and this would be their only goal and the reason for coming together.
Sudden announcement of DDC elections brought People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) at such a stage where they felt that if they boycott these elections, the centre and the local BJP unit will dub them as separatists.
They also felt that it will bring a big question mark on their claims that they are enjoying the public support and their struggle for the article 370 was only reflection of that.
After a lot of brainstorming sessions, the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) leadership finally decided to contest these elections unitedly in Jammu and Kashmir and started looking for candidates as few weeks were only left.
