Dozens of youth questioned and 20 arrested for Badamwari violence

Police have questioned dozens of suspected youth over the recent incident of violence inside the Badamwari garden when some youth finally clashed with the local singers and the government has taken the issue very seriously.
According to the reports in the past few days police raided many places in downtown Srinagar and arrested many suspects who were involved in this incident and some of them were let off after the initial questioning.
The incident was viral on the social media platforms and it prompted police to take action against those youth who were involved in the incident.
Badamwari garden was recently opened by the government for the local people and the tourists as the almond flowers on the hundreds of trees laid in this garden signal the coming of spring season in Kashmir valley.
Meanwhile KNO in its report about the police action regarding the Badamwari violence has said that district police Srinagar on Thursday claimed to have arrested 20 youth involved in creating ruckus during a musical function here in Badamwari park on 28 March, 2021.
“On 28th March 2021, a musical event was organized in Badamwari park by the Tourism Department. The musical event witnessed a huge gathering of people including a very large number of women and children,” a police spokesman said in a statement issued.
Police said that a group of miscreants created ruckus on the stage when the demand of a song from a boy among the audience was not fulfilled immediately by the performing artists.
“Police used maximum restraint to restore order as the use of any kind of force would have created a stampede like situation at the venue,” police said.
In this regard, police said that a case under FIR number 11/2021 at Police Station Rainawari was registered and during investigation involvement of 20 miscreants was established, who were identified through different videos of the event and were arrested.
The investigation of the case is underway.l, police said.
