Smart metering
UT government of Jammu and Kashmir has recently said that they are committed to timely roll out of smart metering. In this direction recently Union Home Secretary reviewed the progress of smart metering roll out.
The reforms in the power sector are already under way in entire Jammu and Kashmir and the new chief secretary represented the JK government in this high level meeting.
The government has underscored the scheme aims to improve quality and reliability of power supply to the consumers and the financially efficient distribution system would be put in place.
The Union Government has said that the smart metering is to be rolled out in the mission mode union territories which shall eventually become a model for the other states of the country.
There would be a considerable reduction in the losses due to the smart metering and it would be funded under the centrally sponsored scheme launched recently by the central government.
This project would be completed within the stipulated time and the arrangements are being made for rolling out of project and to be completed within the timeline.
There would be complete automatic cycle of metering reading of billing without any human interface with the result there would be an improvement in the power distribution system in entire Jammu and Kashmir.
