Public grievances
Common people have a lot of issues in their localities especially in villages of Jammu and Kashmir and used to get them redressed to a political system.
Since Jammu and Kashmir is under central rule and elections have not been held for the past several years, the administration is trying to become responsive to the needs of common people especially during the pandemic.
There were a lot of grievances both from the patients and the attendants during the peak of the second wave of the pandemic and the oxygen shortage was also an issue.
However, the government responded to the grievances of patients and the oxygen supply to the hospitals was streamlined. The 500 bedded hospital was established at Khonmoh in Srinagar for the covid care and a similar hospital with similar capacity was also established at Jammu as the authorities could see that the patients needed more care and immediate treatment.
However most of the locals in the villages have a lot of grievances and they want their redressal at the earliest. Though panchayat elections and DDC elections were held and there are elected members available, however these elected members have been talking to the media that the officials in the bureaucracy are not listening to them.
They have been demanding more power so that they can redress these grievances at the village level without being trapped in the official files for the approvals.
