2 persons dead as many rescued in Kashmir

Two persons died and two thers were rescued who were stranded due to snowfall at  Sinthan Pass in south Kashmir district of Anantnag, official sources said on Sunday.

They said, on receiving a call the civil administration, police and security forces launched a rescue operation at Sinthan pass found a person dead and another succumbed while being evacuated from the area.

He said two other persons rescued from the area are being treated for hypothermia and shock at Sub District Hospital Kokernag.

The deceased were identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir of Khualchul Kishtawar and Dawood Ahmad lone a resident of Dadpath Kishtawar in Jammu region.

He said the rescue team had to travel several kms in sub zero temperature through rough snow clad  and foggy terrain to get the stranded persons.
