Buzz of life returns in Srinagar and other parts after weekend lockdown

On Monday morning there was a lot of hustle and bustle with people waiting for the public transport to go to their respective destinations. Buzz of life returned in Srinagar and other important towns of Jammu and Kashmir.
All the shops and business establishments were opened and a lot of people thronged the shopping centers as they remained closed for sixty four hours.
Government has been imposing weekend lockdowns due to the surge in covid-19 Omicron variant cases in entire Jammu and Kashmir.
Due to the lockdowns, life remains crippled for the weekend and the business community of Jammu and Kashmir has already appealed to the government to lift the lockdown as they feel that it has not proven to be effective against the surge in cases and intern is negatively impacting the economy.
According to the news agencies in its news report on Monday as follows, the authorities in Jammu and Kashmir imposed a weekend lockdown on January 15 and extended it by 16 hours from Friday 2 pm on January 21 following a rise in Covid-19 cases.
In a fresh order, educational institutions including coaching centres were told to remain closed for in-person teaching.
The institutions, including colleges, schools, polytechnics, ITIs, coaching centers for civil services and engineering or NEET, will continue to adopt online medium of teaching.
There shall also be complete restriction on non-essential movement in the entire J&K from every Friday 9 pm to Monday 6 am, reads the order issued by the State Executive Committee.
The night curfew will also continue in all districts from 9 pm to 6 am.
