Jal Jeevan Mission
Under the Jal Jeevan Mission in Jammu and Kashmir, different wings of the government are active, especially the Mission to bring drinking water facilities to every household even in the remotest areas.
In Jammu region recently Div Com Jammu visited Ramgarh area to assess the development works under Jal Jeevan Mission. He inspected improvement and augmentation of the water supply scheme Ramloo constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 4.67 crore which will supply tap water to 740 households. The project is 60% complete which includes the main building, Sumptank, Tubewell and 13 KM rising main pipeline, informed Executive Engineer PHE (Jal Shakti). It was informed that a total of 80 schemes have been approved and work on 44 schemes was in progress.
He inspected the forward post of BSF at Ballar gate and inspected the cutting due to Basanter. The DPR for flood protection scheme has already been prepared for the same. He directed officers to formulate a joint proposal for protection and restoration of the area with the department of revenue, mining and Flood Control.
Regarding the water connections to every household in different areas of Jammu the government has set the target of the households in the villages to be covered under the safe drinking water.
Although the wings of the government are busy in completing the Jal Jeevan Mission at the speed prescribed by the government, the pandemic and other circumstances have brought this scheme little late in some villages.
