Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is not happy with the way the present administration is handling the traffic mess on the roads of Srinagar city. However, memories are short lived, Omar Abdullah as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir missed many deadlines not only for the flyover of Srinagar but also for important developmental projects including some hospital buildings.

On Wednesday, taking to twitter, Omar Abdullah said that just by painting the pillar of existing flyovers, the traffic mess cannot be solved on the streets of Srinagar.

Expressing his disappointment over traffic management in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah said painting pretty flyover pillars will not solve the mess on roads.

In his tweet he said, “One of the biggest problems in Srinagar city these days is traffic management. I haven’t seen any meaningful steps being taken and no new infrastructure being invested in after the Rambagh flyover was completed”.

It is in place to mention that recently shopkeepers of Lal Chowk protested on the streets against the high handedness of traffic cops as they had allegedly towed their vehicles and also of the customers from this main business hub of Srinagar.

These shopkeepers have alleged that the actions of traffic police in the main Lal Chowk indicate that they will have to close their shops as the customers cannot come under such harassment.
