Union Joint Secretary inspects Amrit Sarovars, launches plantation drive, interacts with PRIs

DODA, JUNE 02: Union Joint Secretary, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region and Central Nodal Officer (NO) for Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA), ‘Catch the Rain’ (CTR), Angshuman Dey, today visited Amrit Sarovars constructed under MGNREGA at Thilroo, Pranoo panchayat and Upper Bhalla.

He was accompanied by Scientist D, CGWB, Gargee Sharma and members of Jal Shakti Abhiyan besides Superintendent Engineer, Jal Shakti Department, Anil Gupta, and other concerned engineers and officials.

Union Joint Secretary also launched plantation drive by planting various saplings at Thilroo village of Panchayat Pranoo.

Union Joint Secretary, Scientist D, CGWB and members of Jal Shakti Abhiyan, on second day of their three day visit to the district, interacted with the PRI members and took stock of their issues and concerns.

While interacting with the gathering, Joint Secretary asked the PRIs to plan GPDP, MGNREGA, and other developmental schemes for creation of infrastructure required for water conservation and rain water harvesting in the district. He asked them to understand the need and importance for water conservation and its judicious use, protection of water sources and rain water harvesting to ensure safe and sufficient water availability for our future generations.

The Jal Shakti Abhiyan is a flagship program of the Government of India focused on ensuring water security and conservation in the country. The program aims to raise awareness about the importance of water conservation, promote water harvesting, and improve infrastructure for water storage and distribution.

The meeting was attended by BDC Chairman, DDC member, Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, SE Jal Shakti Department, and other officers and officials of Jal Shakti Department and PRI members.
