Farming community
Farming community and their welfare is the focus of J&K administration. Recently in this connection Principal Secretary, Agriculture Production Department (APD), chaired a meeting of concerned officers to review the functioning of the Enforcement Wing of Agriculture department.
While addressing the meeting, he said that the department is committed to safeguarding the interests of the farming community of the region. He exhorted upon the concerned officers to work in close coordination with officers of the extension wing to achieve effective results in overall working of the department.
He highlighted the importance of transparency and accountability in the system to ensure smooth distribution of quality pesticides, fertilizers and other inputs among the growers and farmers. He said that the primary objective of the law enforcement wing of the department is to ensure availability of quality inputs to the farming community of the region, through proper sale outlets.
He said that 133 fertiliser samples have been drawn, as on date, for 2024-25 while 835 samples had been drawn for 2023-24. He asked the concerned officers to ensure that all the provisions of the Insecticides Act, fertilizer control order are implemented in letter and spirit.
Among others the meeting was attended by Director Agriculture Kashmir, Director Law Enforcement, Deputy Director Law Enforcement, Plant Protection Officer Kashmir, District Law Enforcement officers and other concerned officers of the department.
