Road Ahead
Although Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is trying to get the tourism industry back on track, due to the limitations, he may see the road ahead bumpy.
He started tourism campaign from Pahalgam and reached to Gulmarg to reassure tourists about safety and security in Kashmir.
When a television channel reporter asked Omar Abdullah at Gulmarg about the closure of 48 J&K tourist spots, he said that they would be reopened in a phased manner.
After the April 22 Pahalgam attack, the security grid of Jammu and Kashmir closed many tourist spots especially in the hilly areas of Kashmir valley.
There is a tourism trickle in Kashmir valley but they are disappointed when they find many tourist spots have been closed by security forces for them.
Omar Abdullah has assured that these tourist spots would be reopened in a phased manner but will the tourists wait for such decisions of the government?
Similarly J&K government has locals and J&K schools to conduct picnics to different tourist destinations.
It is not clear yet whether locals and local schools go for picnics in those tourist destinations which have been closed by the administration.
