Difficult Journey
Before the Baisaran terror attack on April 22, Kashmir was brimming with tourists and many of them were going to border areas of Kashmir.
Slowly on the tourist map the Salamabad a crossing point on the Line of Control (LoC) between India and Pakistan near Uri was becoming a popular tourist destination.
On social media tourists would upload their photographs near the Kaman Post where a bridge connects the two countries.
Uri is a silent town today with no talk of tourism. Hundreds of houses have been damaged in the border shelling incidents and the population is trying to come in terms with the losses.
The authorities are busy in making a comprehensive report about the losses as some local markets also have been damaged in the border shelling.
While it will take lot of time for the affected families to rebuild their lives, there is no possibility of tourists coming to Kaman Post.
