Due to the growing threat of Jammu region, the Union Home Ministry has decided to train and arm all those border residents whose areas are coming between borders and highway.

The training is being provided to villagers by BSF including women near the border posts.

J&K police have identified the villages and the training in semi automatic weapons has been started.

Police recently said that this training would start a second line of defense in the border villages of Jammu region as they have witnessed a rise in violence and terror activities.

BSF said on X on May 29 a three-day training program for VDGs began in Samba’s border villages, Galar, Chak Faquira, Khanpur and Suchetpur. The program focuses on building skills to safeguard communities, boost situational awareness and counter security threats effectively.”

The residents of the border district of Jammu are happy and encouraged by such a programme as in many terror incidents in the recent past some civilians were killed.
