The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department has submitted a proposal to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, seeking approval for funding to address the recurring issue of land subsidence near Surinsar Lake. This initiative is part of a larger project aimed at stabilizing the affected terrain and constructing a proper drainage system for residential areas.
The goal is to mitigate the problem of land subsidence and protect public infrastructure while preserving the tourism potential of the area. By addressing this critical issue, the project aims to ensure the long-term sustainability of Surinsar Lake as a tourist hub.
The project will be executed in phases, with the Tourism Department overseeing the release of funds. The Tehri Hydro Development Corporation India Limited will be responsible for executing the project according to the Detailed Project Report.
