Solid waste management
Srinagar city has a growing population and the growing problem of solid waste management because the problem of pollution is increasing with each passing day.
Recently many activists and environmentalists have alarmed the government about the possibility of spread of diseases from the Achan solid waste dumping site on the outskirts of Srinagar at Syedpora.
Government of Jammu and Kashmir has been working to get the final comprehensive report of how to do the disposal of solid waste which is being collected at various centres in Srinagar city. There is need of an appropriate scheme for the solid waste management with the guidance of those organizations which have already done such work in other cities of the country.
There is also need to review the growing pattern of Srinagar city and other conditions so that solid waste management is done on the scientific lines. There should be a hygienic disposal of solid waste and it should be collected not in the open trucks but on the recommendations of the experts.
