Cracks visible
People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) is wilting under pressure and now the cracks are visible in this united face of mainstream politics of Jammu and Kashmir.
People’s Conference whose chairman Sajad Gani lone was the spokesperson of People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) as official pulled out of the amalgam.
Recently he has written a letter to the President PAGD, Dr Farooq Abdullah, stating that his party is no longer part of this political platform.
Sajad Lone has faced a lot of pressure within the party fold to pull out of this amalgam as during the selection of candidates for the DDC election, a lot of strong holds of Peoples Conference were allotted to the National Conference.
According to the media reports and also by some leaders who were closely watching the lists of the candidates announced in staggered form by People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), Omar Abdullah was calling shots and was trying to get maximum seats for his party.
This attitude of Omar Abdullah not only triggered rebellion candidates in many DDC constituencies but also was the starting point of bitterness between the different political constituents of this newly formed political platform.
