Ladakh in focus
As the talks between New Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir leadership have started, the collective leadership of Ladakh has demanded a separate legislature for their region and also safeguards to their land and jobs.
They have raised these demands earlier also, they were assured by the central government that all their demands would be looked into and so far no central laws have been extended to UT of Ladakh and they are waiting for the centre to announce something for them also.
Recently, the leadership of Ladakh has told the media that they want a special schedule in the constitution of India for Ladakh so that the aspirations of the people living in this hilly area are taken care of.
The separate schedule of the Constitution of India will be asked for safeguarding the land ownership, job reservation, environmental and cultural preservation, and other common interests of the inhabitants of the Ladakh region, the leadership of the people of Ladakh told media recently.
The leadership including the BJP MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal was present before the media and they are now demanding the separate legislature as the central government while announcing Ladakh as a union territory and has said it would be without legislature.
People of Ladakh want new laws for safeguarding the interests of the residents of the UT Ladakh in respect of land ownership, job reservation, environmental and cultural preservation and other common interests of the inhabitants of Ladakh region above 95 percent of whom belong to various scheduled tribes will be sought.
