Covid-19: No Public Meetings, Darbars In JK Till March 31

JAMMU – In the view of coronavirus scare, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has put all darbars and public meetings in abeyance till 31 March 2020.

“All darbars and public meetings to be put in abeyance till 31 March,” said the government spokesperson, Rohit Kansal.

Earlier on Wednesday the Jammu and Kashmir administration ordered closure of all educational institutes across the union territory till March 31.

“All schools, colleges and universities of Jammu and Kashmir to suspend teaching and class work till March 31,” said Director National Health Mission (NHM), Bhupinder Kumar while addressing press conference in Jammu.

Spelling out measures being taken up to control and prevent spread of this Virus, Director informed that control rooms and surveillance teams have been constituted in all the districts of UT besides two Corona-Virus lab testing facilities have already been made functional in SKIMS, Srinagar and GMC, Jammu.

Giving a detailed break up about the Corona virus suspected cases in UT of J&K till date, Director informed that 1,211 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been put under active surveillance; 150 of these have completed surveillance period of 28 days while as 12 are undergoing hospital quarantine.

Kumar added that 64 samples of suspected cases have been sent for testing so far; 28 have reported negative, 01 has tested positive and report of 35 is still awaited. KNO
