Untimely Snow
Heavy damage caused by recent untimely snow in most parts of Kashmir has created a lot of problems both financial and emotional for the people living here.
Orchardists are the main victims of this damage, as most of the trees were damaged by the untimely snow especially in South Kashmir as many social media videos showed the trees coming down along with fruit.
In this connection recently Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, along with a team of officers visited snow affected areas and inspected damaged apple orchards of the district including Jamnagri,Meemander, Vehil, Dangam, Beminipora, Reshnagri, Ratnipora, Gadapora, Ramnagri Kachdoora of the district to take stock of damage caused due to the snow falling in the district and arrangements of health care, water supply and food items available in the far flung areas of the district to take first hand appraisal of the damage and restoration of essential services in all affected areas.
He directed the officers to remain present at their headquarters and be ready 24 x 7 to tackle any issue arising due to the spell of snowfall in the district.
He inspected PHC Vehil and emphasized for providing better healthcare facilities to the general public.
He directed the Tehsildars to monitor the exercise regularly in their respective jurisdictions to assess the damage to trees and fruit without fail and furnish reports and recommendations and all the possible support be provided to the Orchardists.
