New Domicile Act
Central government will soon with new domicile act so that people of Jammu and Kashmir will feel that they have every right and protection on their rights as they were enjoyed in the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir State.
In a bid to address the concerns of the local populace after the revoking of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status last year, Union minister Jitendra Singh recently assured the people of the Union Territory that the domicile law is coming “very soon” which would be followed by the Land Act.
He also announced that more than the promised jobs will be provided to the youth after the notification of the rules is worked out. Youth in Jammu and Kashmir are without any jobs and lakhs of them have lost the jobs in private sector due to the clampdown and internet shutdown in the past seven months post abrogation of article 370. Unemployment is one of the biggest challenges being faced by the administration and the central government will have to address this issue on priority.
Many parties have been demanding enactment of a domicile law for Jammu and Kashmir to protect the interests of landowners and the unemployed youth after the erstwhile state lost its special status following the nullification of Article 370 by the Centre. The new political party being floated by many former ministers and law makers of jammu and Kashmir have also demanded such law and protection for the interests of people especially of youth.
Central government will have to come with these laws as soon as possible as the fears in the minds of people are only growing especially in Kashmir valley. Youth have not received any visible help from the central government especially on the employment front and they feel that after the state of Jammu and Kashmir was downgraded to Union Territory they have no claim on the posts in Jammu and Kashmir.
