Enforcement of rates
In Srinagar city and other parts of Kashmir there is a lot of fluctuation in the rates in different markets especially the rates of essential commodities.
There have been a lot of appeals by common people to the administration that they should devise a mechanism so that the rates are uniform and people are not forced to buy the essential commodities at higher rates.
Recently DC Srinagar reviewed measures for enforcement of rates of Essential Commodities in Srinagar and also ordered the constitution of 17 Enforcement Squads to undertake intensified market checking across the City.
He directed officers to keep a Strict Watch on Prices, Quality of essential commodities in all markets of Srinagar city so that the people are not fleeced by black sheep.
He asked the officers of FCS&CA to ensure that adequate stocks of all essential commodities are maintained and create a buffer to cushion the unusual price fluctuations and keep prices stable at all marketplaces. He also directed the officers to publish rates of essential commodities in leading Newspapers on a regular basis, besides shopkeepers were asked to display rate lists of all essentials in the shops.
He constituted 17 Enforcement/Market checking squads at Tehsil level to intensify the market checking and ensure all commodities are sold at already fixed prices besides ensure availability and quality of all essential supplies in the market to avoid hoardings and profiteering.
