Skill Development
Skill Development has been in focus of J&K administration for a long time and on the ground it is showing visible impact. The importance of the skill development department can be gauged by the fact that the Chief Secretary recently reviewed its functioning of the Skill Development Department.
During the review meeting he asked for continuous upgradation and alignment of course content in ITIs/Polytechnics with industry so that more and more skilled youth get the jobs in the industrial sector.
He emphasized time table content convergence amongst ITIs/Polytechnics for e-learning.
He urged tie-up of SHGs with ITIs/Polytechnics for skilling/upskilling, aimed at improving livelihood options for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
Around 21000 candidates have been skilled by the various ITIs/polytechnics during the year and that efforts are going on to integrate with industry to impart industry specific skills to enhance the employability of the trainees.
J&K are imparting quality training, senior officials stated that students even from IIT, Jammu and NIIT, Srinagar have been/ are being skilled/trained by these technical institutes.
He informed that 2 centers of excellence at Kathua and Budgam have been established, which will help make the youth of the UT future ready for a range of jobs in the UT and beyond.
