The government of Jammu and Kashmir is giving special attention to the preservation of water bodies and has also removed a lot of illegal constructions in and around these water sources.

Srinagar city has a lot of water bodies and Lakes and most of them have the problem of illegal constructions and it needs a huge plan to remove them and to retrieve the water base of them.

In this direction the government has already spent a lot of money on the Dal conservation project but despite all the efforts most of the illegal constructions in this water body have not been removed while plots have been given to the people to come out of this water body.

With each passing day both Nigeen Lake and Dal Lake at their rim from Khanyar up to Saida Kadal are getting more and more illegal constructions and even the hotels and shopping complexes have been built in the recent past on this road.

The condition of Dal Lake from the Rainawari side is also very dismal as the people have been making the constructions fresh and old being rebuilt and this process is really killing the Dal Lake.

The authorities of concern like the LCMA and Srinagar administration together should start dismantling the illegal constructions on both sides of the road going from Khanyar to Hazratbal and retrieve both Nigeen and Dal Water bodies.

In spite of all the claims by the government, illegal constructions on this road are going on and the authorities are looking the other way while as it would be very difficult in the future to remove these illegal constructions as they are filling the water bodies each day.
