Gurez-Bandipora road likely to open in 15 days
The 85 kilometers Bandipora- Gurez road in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district is expected to be open within the next 15 days, the administration said on Saturday.
The administration is ensuring that the connectivity is restored that will subsequently benefit the border residents besides movement of security forces.
Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the Bandipora-Gurez road is set to open within 15 days as the snow clearance work on the road is going on in full swing.
“If the weather remains favourable, the only road connecting the Gurez region with the rest of Jammu and Kashmir is likely to open within the next 15 days,” he said.
He said that the administration is making all efforts to clear the snow to make the road through for vehicular traffic.
It is noteworthy that the snow clearance work by the 56RCC unit of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) on the road has been going on for the last few months.
The authorities provide helicopter services to ferry patients and other stranded people, including students from Gurez during the winter season.
Notably, the Gurez area remains cut off from the rest of the Kashmir valley due to the accumulation of snow along the high peaks through which the road passes—(KNO)
