Pace of development
In order to keep the pace of development uniform in rural and urban areas, the J & K administration has introduced a number of schemes and programmes for this purpose.
Recently a two day programme was held in every urban area of Jammu and Kashmir under My Town My Pride.
J&K Chief Secretary recently emphasized upon the visiting officers to ensure that all cases in respect of 75 schemes where J&K has achieved near saturation should be put on fast-track so that no case is left out.
While interacting with the Mayor SMC, JunaidMattu; Prabhari officer Srinagar, Dheeraj Gupta and other corporators of SMC, Dr. Mehta enjoined upon them to organise events and activities with involvement of all the line departments so that the Srinagar City will emerge as one of the most vibrant cities of India in terms of development. He asked them not to restrict the events to MTMP programme only but to keep it as a continuing affair and work towards making Srinagar one of the cleanest cities of the country.
He asked them to explore the possibility of vibrant evening tourism in Srinagar city as it possesses tremendous potential for the same and organise cultural activities in winter months like in other countries where winters are alike Kashmir. He further asked them to make the place attractive with illumination of Dal Lake as well as other heritage sites so that tourists as well as locals have something to explore in late evenings also.
