MEHBOOBA UNDER DETENTION

Former Chief Minister and PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti was shifted today to her Gupkar residence and the authorities declared it as a sub-jail as she has not been released so far.
Mehbooba is under detention from the past 8 months and presently she is detained under PSA, a stringent law as she can kept in jail up to two without any bail or trial.
Although authorities have released two former chief minister Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah by revoking their PSA, but Mehbooba Mufti continued to be detention along with many political leaders.
Due to the Covid-19 threat, almost from all the jails hundreds of detainees have been released on parole in order to avoid spread of infection in jails. Hundreds of political activists, many of them separatist leaders have been detained from the past 8 months and they have not been yet released by the authorities.
Many of them are incarnated in jails outside Jammu and Kashmir and recently authorities have indicated that they may release some of them in the coming days.
Coming back to Mehbooba’s detention, 60 year old first woman chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir is not being released even as her main political opponent Omar Abdullah has demanded yet again her release, when news of her shifting to residence came in media.
Many media reports earlier suggested that Mehbooba would be released but so far she has only got the order of being shifted to her residence at Gupkar but she continues to be under detention.
