No Shramik Special Trains for Jammu and Kashmir complains Masoodi
Srinagar, May 12 (KNS): National Conference MP from Anantnag, Hasnain Masoodi has expressed dismay over the failure of Ministry of Railways and J&K administration to announce any shramik special non-stop train for the residents of Jammu and Kashmir stranded in Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Cochin and other cities.
According to statement issued to KNS, Masoodi has stated that thousands of stranded people, without resources to meet the travel expenses are trying to book railway tickets online for a few trains operating from Kolkata, Mumbai, and other stations, when the railway tickets are already sold out making it impossible to make the bookings. The statement adds that thousands of stranded J&K residents at Mumbai and other cities for the said reasons are not able to book the tickets for next 2 weeks, thus further delaying their return. Masoodi has stated that while more than 500 shramik special train were operated to ferry the stranded labourers to Bihar, Orissa and other states free of charge, not a single shramik special train has been provided to transport the stranded labourers, students and small businessmen from Kolkata, Mumbai and other stations. He has demanded that shramik special trains be operated between the Kolkata, Mumbai, Lucknow and other cities to Jammu to relieve the stranded of the immense hardships they face.
He has also requested the designated nodal officers to enhance their accessibility to the stranded students and others as the reports pouring in indicate that they do not have access to the vital information regarding their back home travel. It said (KNS)
