For the first time State Governor Satya Pal Malik has asked militants to shun the path of violence and come for the talks on table without any conditions. The press briefing of the Governor has come at a time when the Central Interlocutor Dineshwar Sharma has come back to Kashmir Valley to reinitiate the process of dialogue with all stakeholders in the Valley.

Governor said that there was no place for violence and separatists should not mislead people over the sensitive issues and should rather try to contribute in the process of finding a solution to the problems of Kashmir. The Governor told media that Government of India was ready to address the aspirations of the youth on table without any conditions and violence will take them nowhere.

He said the mainstream leaders are telling lies to the people here for last several decades here. He accused a section of erstwhile ruling parties leaders of indulging into corruption and said a process has been set into motion to take action against them. He stated that he respects the Hurriyat leaders some of them despite being elderly have been suffering for a wrong cause. He said there is no threat to article 370 and 35A and described as rumours the reports about delimitation in the state.

About conduct of fresh assembly elections, he said it is up to the election commission of India and union home ministry. He asked militants to give up arms and invited them to hold talks, saying dialogue is the only way through which they can get what they want within the ambit of the Constitution. He said India cannot be made to bow through violence.

“Take everything from us, we will give our life, but through love and dialogue. For that (PM) Narendra Modi is ready, we are ready. Come to the dialogue table and take it forward,” governor said.

Whatever you want can be achieved through talks and dialogue. You have your own constitution, you have a separate flag. Whatever more you want, you will get it through the democratic process and within the ambit of the Indian Constitution, Governor asserted.
