NIA summons senior Congress leader GM Saroori
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has summoned senior Jammu and Kashmir Congress leader Ghulam Mohammad Saroori for questioning in connection with “terror cases” in Kishtwar.
Saroori is the state Congress vice president and a former Jammu and Kashmir minister. His brother was among those named for Hizbul Mujahideen links, reported India Today.
In a case regarding violence and arson that took place on August 9, 2013, in Kishtwar, name of Saroori had surfaced, India Today quoted sources as having said.
Saroori is a reportedly a close aide of Ghulam Nabi Azad.
All four major militant cases in Kishtwar during the past one year were handed over to the NIA last year. These included the killing of prominent Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) functionary Chanderkant Sharma and his PSO Rajinder Singh Kishtwar, reported India Today.
