Sonamarg, April 17 (KNS): Srinagar-Leh highway remained closed on Friday for third day for the movement of traffic after the area received fresh snowfall at the Zojila pass, reports said.
An official of the BRO said that the Zojila pass is experiencing fresh spell of moderate snowfall over the past few days.
The bad weather conditions and the continuous avalanches and landslides at some places have forced the closure of the Highway since Wednesday.

“Almost 3 to 4 inch snow has been recorded at Zojilla top which has created several landslides and avalanches.
The highway is being cleared of the snow and BRO has deputed its men and machinery for the purpose,” he added.
Meanwhile SSP Traffic Rural , Manzoor Ahmad said that due to slippery road conditions and landslides at various places along Zojilla Pass , the traffic was suspended for the third day.
He said that subject to good weather conditions, the vehicles carrying essential commodities will be allowed to ply on the highway.(KNS)
