India Records 120 Deaths, 4,987 New COVID-19 Cases, Sharpest Spike In 24 Hours
In the sharpest 24-hour increase in numbers, India has recorded 4,987 fresh coronavirus cases, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Sunday, adding the tally has crossed the 90,000-mark.
Over the last 24 hours, the country witnessed 120 deaths, taking the total fatalities due to the deadly infection to 2,872, the ministry said. Of the total 90,927 cases, 53946 are active, 34109 cured/discharged/migrated, 2872 have died, it said.
Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state in India with the maximum infections and deaths, closely followed by Gujarat.
