Young Persian teacher develops Android app to promote Persian

Budgam, June 10 (KNS): A young lecturer who teaches Persian has developed an android app to bring this one of the oldest languages in sync with technology for wider readers.

It contains the famous Persian poetry of Rumi, Saadi, Khusrau, Khayam and others.

Mohmad Ibrahim Wani, who teaches Persian in a government higher secondary school Damgiwacha, Baramulla, in Kashmir has developed the app with the help of technical team so that gadget freaks could get a hands-on material to learn Persian.

A resident of Ohangam village of Beerwah in Budgam district Wani is a post graduate in Persian from Kashmir University and has Doctoral degree from University of Delhi in the Persian. He says he conceived this idea of promoting Persian through phone-based app as people spent more time with gadgets.

“The Android app has been developed for Clss 11 and 12 students of Persian, Persian lovers and for those who want to learn it,” Wani says.

“Persian is a culture more than a sweet language,” he said.

The App will be launched today online on Zoom by Ehsan Ullah Shukrulahi, Director Persian Research Centre Iran Culture House New Delhi, Prof. Aleem Ashraf Khan, former Head Department of Persian University of Delhi, Mr. G.M. Lone, CEO Baramulla and by Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Wani, Principal HSS Dangiwacha. Others present on the occasion include Dr. Rafiq Masoodi, former Director General Prasar Bharti, Dr. Zakir Tasaduq Hussain, Senior Lecturer Persian GHSS Budgam, Mr. Syed Azad Hussain Bukhari, Lecturer IT HSS Kunzer, Dr. Iqbal Khan Uzair, Lecturer Persian HSS Magam Kupwara, Dr. Gazala Firdous, Lecturer Persian HSS Bijbihara, Mr. Nazim Nazir Assistant Editor Daily Tamil-e Irshad, Peerzada Basharat Mehraj, Chairman Civil Society Dangiwacha and other teachers and students of different schools were also present on the occasion.

“The app works without the phone being connected to internet. The material is divided in to three portion; Language, Prose and poetry. Reader can open the portion of his choice anytime anywhere. Not only Persian students but other Persian lover can also install the app and can learn some basics of Persian language and enjoy some selected prose pieces of Persian and some selected Persian poetry of Rumi, Saadi, Khusrau, Khayam and others,” he said.

Ehsan- Ullah Shukrulahi said that Iran Cultural House New Delhi appreciates such innovative developments for the promotion of Persian language and literature in a place known as little Iran.

He added that keeping the local needs in view the app has been developed in the best way possible with perfect quality and standards.

Prof. Aleem Ashraf Khan while congratulating the author said that without studying Saadi and Rumi like Persian writers the overall education of students remains incomplete.

G.M. Lone lauded the move and said that developing android app like initiatives is one of the best ways to reach to students in theses pandemic times.

Manzoor Ahmad Wani said that Persian hold the flag of our great cultural heritage based on mysticism and love.

Dr. Rafiq Masoodi said dedicated teachers are taking the institution to new heights.

The App based on the comprehensive study material for the students of Persian of class 11th and 12th of J&K is as per the prescribed syllabus of JKBOSE and the material has been reviewed and recommended by Prof. Aleem Ashraf Khan (University of Delhi) and Dr. Zakir Tasaduq Hussain (Senior Lecturer Persian)

The material has been designed with coloured text, simple but standard English and Urdu translation, beautiful pictures, syllabus, model question papers and some calligraphy master pieces have also been added to make the material attractive, beneficial and comprehensive. (KNS)
