NO EFFORTS
J&K Tourism Department has taken no tangible steps for the tourist industry in Jammu and Kashmir as this main economic plank of Kashmir is facing severe financial crisis.
Recently in the media it was reported that the department is planning about programmes it may conduct once tourists head back to Kashmir.
Officials of tourism in Kashmir maintain that they were busy in their efforts to revive tourism but without giving any tangible details. In the present pandemic it is next to impossible to witness any tourism and it is the duty of officials of this department to look for ways and means and make schemes for the families of Shikara Wallas and other such people so that they can make at least their survival possible.
But it is unfortunate according to the media reports appearing in the local media that the tourism department was busy in their old programmes like keeping the material available for publicity.
Most of the travel agents in Kashmir maintain that it is impossible to see the return of tourists to Kashmir, at least till next summer, is quite improbable.
With such predictions by the stakeholders of the tourism industry in Kashmir it is the duty of the UT administration to make a comprehensive package for all the segments and sections of tourist trade so that they can save their families from hunger.
It is mentionable here that most of them have debts of the financial institutions both banks and private bankers. They have no money to pay back and are finding even to survive almost impossible.
