Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Cyber Cell on Friday said that it has identified many persons spreading “false propaganda” against government and has booked a person from north Kashmir’s Sopore town under relevant sections of law.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), while taking strong cognizance of misusing of social media plate forms against Government, JKPs Cyber Cell stated that it has identified many persons misusing social media by spreading false propaganda against the Government.
It said, one such person namely Tahir Nazir Shalla son of Nazir Ah shalla, employee of Department of Education, who in contravention of social media policy for Government employees was resorting to anti-national campaign on social media and tried to create untrue and fake narrative.
The accused was circulating “highly seditious” and “provocative posts” through his social media accounts which were highly prejudicial to maintenance of law and order, it said.
It added the accused has been handed over to Police Station Sopore and has been booked under relevant sections of law for further course of action.
“Investigations are set in motion to identify other persons involved in similar anti-state campaigns on social media and spreading false propaganda”, it added. (KNS)
