The residents and trade unions of Karnah town of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday held a peaceful protest march against the ‘blasphemous’ remarks against Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and demanded exemplary punishment to the accused.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), hundreds of locals and representatives of trade unions & civil society assembled in Tanghdar S and started march towards SDM Office tp register their protest as a mark of anger & resentment.The protesters while on way raised slogans against the accused who used blasphemous remarks against Prophet Muhammad (SAW) couple of days ago in Reasi district of Jammu region.
Terming the remarks “deliberate attempt” to vitiate the aged communal harmony in J&K, protesters demanded exemplary punishment to the accused.
Civil society Karnah Chairman Haji Peerzada Siraj-Ud-Din while talking to KNS condemned the remarks and said no Muslim can tolerate abusive and derogatory remarks against their beloved Prophet (SAW). He exhorted upon authorities to book the accused under relevant clauses of law and said exemplary punishment should be given to such elements who lacks any respect to other faiths.
