People of Kargil are closely watching all the political developments in Jammu and Kashmir especially in Kashmir valley post the release of the Mehbooba Mufti after the 14 months of detention.
People of Kargil have expressed their desire that they want to be a part of Kashmir discourse on the political front and are not willing to be governed by Leh after being ruled from Srinagar.
Kargil has rejected the making of union territory and instead have demanded that Ladakh should be declared as a state with all the powers to the legislatures.
There is a division within as the people of Kargil district have said that they want to be part of Kashmir valley and are not interested in the implementation of the sixth schedule as is being demanded by most of the Buddhists of the region.
LAHDC polls are slated for 22 October, and the BJP is confident to win a majority of the seats after they were able to prevail upon the recently formed political platform to call off their agitation with the promise that their identity would be preserved as it was in Article 370.
