Widening the scope
The recent visit PAGD to Kargil followed by their activities in Jammu region have indicated that this new alliance of mainstream political parties is trying to widen the scope of resistance and are trying to get the consent from the people of Jammu and Ladakh to fight back against the decisions taken by the central government by snatching the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and also downgrading the state into two union territories.
Presently PAGD is in Jammu apart from holding its own meeting its leadership has started a public contact programme by having consultations with different stakeholders in order to get the support on ground for the resistance to be shown peacefully to New Delhi against its decisions taken on August 5, 2019.
Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and Peoples Democratic party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti recently said the Government of India will regret scrapping Article 370 and that one day they will restore the special status of the erstwhile state.
Mehbooba expressed hope while talking to her workers in Jammu that the time will come when the centre will restore not only Art 370 and 35A, but they will also ask the people of J&K what else they want from us (GoI) besides special status.
The PDP office was fortified by a strong contingent of police and entries were allowed only after searching the visitors. The police had laid rolls of barbed wires outside the party office to prevent anti-PDP protests.
Mehbooba has shown by her presence in Jammu that she is not taking to laying down the strength to the protests of right wing organizations as in the past also after her remarks on tricolor many activists in Jammu tried to hoist tricolor on her office.
