Three women drug peddlers from Punjab arrested in south Kashmir: Police
Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have arrested three women drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
The police said in a statement, “The officers while patrolling in Bus stand area of Qazigund Kulgam intercepted three suspicious ladies all residents of Cheema Wadi Amritsar, Punjab. During checking, officers were able to recover twenty-five kilograms of poppy straw from their possession.”
Adding that the trio have been arrested and a case First Investigation Report (FIR) No. 326/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Qazigund. Further investigation into the matter has been initiated.”The police have urged the community members, in the statement, are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighborhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law.
The statement further added: “Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.”
