ED summons
When Enforcement Directorate summoned former chief minister and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on March 15 to their Delhi office in connection with an alleged money laundering case, she called it as political vendetta as in the summons, it was not written or mentioned whether she is an accused or witness in that case
Mehbooba Mufti finally approached Delhi high court against these summons recently and got order that she should not be pressed for personal appearance till the matter is heard again.
According to the media reports Mehbooba Mufti has pleaded in the court that the ED has not mentioned why she should present herself in person and got this relief from the court.
Mehbooba Mufti had challenged the validity of the summons issued by the ED for appearing before it on March 15 without specifying the case she was being investigated in. She asked the court to quash the summons.
She has further pleaded in the court that since her release from preventive detention following the abrogation of Article 370, there have been a series of hostile acts by the government against her.
The summons was issued under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act but the case under which she was asked to appear was missing from the notice.
