High density plantation, a way towards doubling farmers income: DDC Pulwama
Flags-off rally to create awareness regarding ‘Save Water’
PULWAMA, APRIL 03: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary today said that optimum High density plantation will help in doubling the farmers income besides boosting the Horticulture sector in the district.
The DC said this during the launch of High density plantation drive by him under ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ campaign here in presence of District Horticulture officer and other concerned officials.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said the launch of plantation drive will be a watershed for farmers/orchardists switching over to the High density plantation having high yield potential and minimal inputs.
The DDC assured that district administration will take all steps in equipping farmers with modern technology besides hand-holding of young entrants into the farm sector. He urged upon the farmers to avail the benefits of government schemes so that self reliance is achieved.
Later, the DDC flagged off an awareness rally from the DC office complex here. The rally was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports in which scores of students and departmental officials participated. The rally went through the main market of Pulwama town with an aim to create awareness among people to Save Water.
District Sports Officer and other officials were present on the occasion.
